This is the reason Pc card originally called as PCMCIA (personal computer memory card international association) and it is the form factor of peripheral interface developed for laptop or notebook computers. The computer industry of United States developed PCMCIA to challenge the Japanese JEIDA memory card. PCMCIA is a big organization and it includes 500 companies. Actually PCMCIA is expanded several times and not it is suitable for various devices. Pc card is originally designed for computer storage or memory. There are three types of PCMCIA cards available for you. All are in same rectangular size but different in width sizes. Type1 pc card is used for adding extra ROM or RAM to the computer. Type 2 PC card is used for modem and fax modem. Type 3 PC card is sufficiently big for transferable disk drives.
